Information:
We start at Park Parade, quickly going into Eagle Terace, and heading north. The route then travels alongside the water on a wide cycle path, running the length of Flinders Parade, past the Sandgate foreshores and outdoor swimming pool. This suburb began life as a little seaside town in the late 19th century when it was known as the beach at which to be seen at amongst the Brisbane socialites. Sandgate rolls into Brighton mid-way along the foreshore. We continue ahead before turning left, away from the water as the path ends, making our way towards the Hornibrook Bridge. The Bridge spans 3 km from Brighton to Clontarf. First built between 1932 and 1935, it has been superseded by a larger bridge, leaving the original structure for the exclusive use of pedestrians and cyclists. We pedal across, enjoying the views into Hayes Inlet.

Having passed below Houghton Highway, and alongside Clontarf and Bells Beaches, the path continues to hug the shoreline through Bicentennial, Apex and Crockatt Parks into the suburb of Woody Point. This suburb was the site o Brisbane's very first penal colony before it moved further up the river within just a year.

Here we take a rest for coffee , readying ourselves for the return leg back.

Distance: 24 km
