Bike Ride 19 June 2016

Boondall Wetlands Bikeway to Nudgee Beach and return

Date:   Sunday 19 June

Time:    7.45 am for an 8.00 am start

Where to meet:   Meet at Boondall Entertainment centre by the lake, where the remote control boats are. Upon enterring the complex from Bicentennial Road, following the main ring road (Melaleuca Drive) around to the left.  Shortly after passing the entrance to the maintenance depot on the left, a green sign on the same side points you into the car park.

We will set off along the Cycle Path which will take us right through the heart of the wetlands, a 1,000 hectare area of tidal flats, mangroves, saltmarshes, melaleuca wetlands, grasslands, open forests and woodlands.   There's an opportunity for us to take a detour to the bird hide.  After about 4 km, we will turn left on to Nudgee Road and travel down to our favourite coffee shop at Nudgee Beach. After a good chat over a cuppa, we will return along the same route back to the Boodall Entertainment Centre by the lake.

Distance:  About 15 km on mostly flat terrain
