Parkinson's Pedallers latest ride

posted Dec 25, 2012, 3:17 PM by Dianne James
We had a great turn out for the third ride.  Alan, Carmel, Garth, John and Peter were the 5 Parkinson's Pedallers, and were accompanied by friends and partners Michael, Robyn and her partner.

This ride began in the wetland forest near Boondall Railway station at 9 am very sharp (apologies to Peter who was only 1 or 2 minutes late and missed us). We travelled along the banks of Cabbage Tree creek, past the Cruising Yacht Club grounds and on to the cliffs of Sandgate, from the top of which we could see our destination, Woody Point.

After a few kilometres riding along Flinders Parade, we came to the Houghton Highway bridge where Peter rejoined our group after a shortcut through Sandgate. The ride across the bridge was level and easy and we all reached Woody Point with ease. We had the usual hot cup of coffee then retraced our steps (about 16 km) back to Boondall. The only problemm encountered was that John had a flat tyre. That was quickly fixed and we were soon on our way.

We are all looking forward to the next ride on Sunday 13 January 2013.  Garth' suggestion of a small river loop is in the rides section of the web site.
